A little about me.

Artist Madeleine cheering and welcoming visitors into her creative world.

Ever since I can remember, I've been totally in love with the substance of fabric. The various textures, prints and tints sending me into various creative dreamlands.  Soooo many to choose from.

My love and fascination for fabrics started with my rummaging through fabric stashes within my mom's sewing room and loving the various textures, prints and color tints waiting for me to use. My memories start back to a preschool age sitting in my little rocking chair creating/designing and sewing by hand exotic gowns for my Barbie's. Well they were to me! lol

Over the years, my interactions with fabric evolved from sewing clothing to creating my own designs for cushion covers including collage quilting. Christmas markets first became part of my yearly to-do's accompanying my senior mom to sell her artisanal works. During the last couple of years, I started to introduce hand created xmas decoration pieces. My specialty being felted birds to hand on one's tree. After the passing away of my mom, I continued to participate in these specialty markets to sell my own artisanal work which evolved to include fabric bird sculptures.

Jumping to 2020 when the pandemic came into our lives bringing in social restrictions that permitted increased creative time but restricted the possibility for social events to sell any creations.

This additional creativity time allowed me to merge my love of fabrics with my obsession with birds. I can literally sit for hours watching my super active hummingbirds buzzing around my gazebo from mothers day to beginning of Fall. I was blessed one winter morning to be able to go outside and chat with a Great Horned Owl that listened to me for over 10 minutes from less than a meter away before flying off to new adventures.

My escape from the corporate business world is my studio. My studio for some is nothing more that a spare bedroom converted into a creative space but for me it's my therapeutic sanctuary. Its a place where only positive vibes exist where I am surrounded by creative waves of energy. My beautiful bubble.

In 2021, a Montreal art gallery The Native Immigrant, was featuring a variety of artists creating Textile (fabric) art, where I had the immense pleasure of being included. Gallery visitors were able to admire and purchase my bird fabric sculptures. Being open to creating custom pieces allowed me to expand on style selections for future events/shops.

While visiting art galleries and admiring various visual arts styles, my creative brain went into overdrive in 2022.  And there started my new passion of visual arts. For now that new passion still encompasses birds and fabric but.....who knows where this will lead to next.
